Digital Technology‐Assisted Resin‐Bonded Biomimetic Inlay‐Retained Fixed Partial Denture: Case Report

Main Symptoms and Clinical Findings A healthy 32‐year‐old male presented to the Department of Restorative and Prosthetic Dental Sciences at Dar Al Uloom University, requesting a prosthetic replacement for the missing maxillary right first premolar, which had been removed several years prior due to extensive caries. Diagnosis and Therapeutic Interventions After clinical examination and radiographic evaluation, it was found that the edentulous space related to the maxillary right first premolar required prosthetic replacement for esthetic and functional reasons. The multidisciplinary team proposed a range of treatment options for the patient. The patient selected the least costly and most minimally invasive treatment. The purpose of this case study is to report the replacement of a missing maxillary right first premolar with a zirconia inlay‐retained cantilever resin‐bonded fixed partial denture (IRCRBFPD), using an intraoral scan for the digital prosthesis Exocad design and CAD/CAM milling. Conclusion IRCRBFPD is considered a promising minimally invasive, biomimetic restorative treatment protocol. This is in conjunction with high‐strength zirconia and high‐precision digital impression and design. Resin bonding using 10‐Methacryloyloxydecyl dihydrogen phosphate (10‐MDP) chemical‐adhesive‐enhanced monomer technology will improve the clinical performance of the bonded prosthesis and reduce debonding liability. Further studies are needed to investigate long‐term clinical survival rates.
