Supplementary Material for "PMLO: A Process Mining Methodology for Large Organizations"
These files provide additional material for the paper PMLO: A Process Mining Methodology for Large Organizations. PMLO iteratively covers six steps: 1) process qualification & selection, 2) project planning, 3) technical understanding, 4) data extraction & processing, 5) process mining, analysis, & evaluation, and 6) followup. PMLO provides practical benefits that cover early process qualification through questionnaires and interviews, stronger engagement with process owners, and support for continuous process mining and post-improvement assessment. Here you will find: A figure giving an overview of the PMLO methodology, with steps (S1–S6), roles, and artefacts. The Process Intake Questionnaire (PIQ) performs an initial screening and scoring of process relevance and feasibility through 13 questions. The Process Evaluation Questionnaire (PEQ), using 23 questions, further explores process characteristics, including process owner engagement & capacity and PM suitability, to gauge indicators for a successful outcome. The Technical Questionnaire (TQ) evaluates in detail, using 11 questions, the properties of the underlying systems and databases to identify potential technical barriers and increase technical understanding. An Excel document that Explains the extent to which each of the 23 process mining challenges (from Zimmerman et al. 2024, https://doi.org/10.1007/s10270-023-01134-0) is mitigated by PMLO, and Reports on our observation of these challenges met in six Process Mining projects in large public-sector organizations
