Impact of Strategic Faculty Development on Organisational Performance in Private Universities: An Empirical Study in Maharashtra

This research contains the full-text article titled “Impact of Strategic Faculty Development on Organisational Performance in Private Universities: An Empirical Study in Maharashtra”. The study examines how structured faculty development practices influence the organisational performance of private universities, focusing on institutions located in Maharashtra, India. Primary data were collected from 240 full-time faculty members across six private universities using a structured questionnaire based on a five-point Likert scale. The article measures faculty development through five dimensions: induction, pedagogical training, research support, performance feedback, and leadership opportunities. Organisational performance is assessed through four dimensions: teaching effectiveness, research output, student satisfaction, and accreditation readiness. Reliability and validity of the scales were established through Cronbach’s alpha and exploratory factor analysis. Statistical tests, including independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis, were applied at a 0.05 level of significance. Results show a strong positive relationship between strategic faculty development and organisational performance, with the regression model explaining 47.2 per cent of the variance in performance. Research support and performance feedback emerged as the strongest predictors, followed by pedagogical training. The article concludes that systematic, data-driven faculty development should be treated as a strategic investment by university leaders to enhance teaching quality, research productivity, student satisfaction, and accreditation outcomes in private universities.
