Auto-assemblage moléculaire dans les solides Van der Waals, applications à la planétologie et au transport et stockage de l'énergie
Hydrogen and methane form co-crystals (crystalline solids composed of at least two distinct molecules, typically in a defined stoichiometric ratio) either at ambient pressure and cryogenic temperatures, or at ambient temperature under very high pressures. This thesis aims to develop a methodology to explore the potential of co-crystals, particularly those capable of stabilizing a gas in the solid phase at temperatures above its melting point, in the context of energy transport and storage. To achieve this, the Thermodynamics of Processes team of CEEP of Mines Paris - PSL has implemented and adapted experimental and modeling tools to represent and measure phase equilibria involving co-crystals.The results obtained were compared with data on chemical species likely to form co-crystals on Titan (a methane-rich moon of Saturn), thus establishing a link between fundamental research in planetary science and applied research targeting energy densification of vectors relevant to the energy transition.
