The Role of Maternal Superior Mesenteric Artery Doppler Velocimetry and Pancreatic Body Dimension in Diagnosis of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus: A Case–Control Study
IntroductIonGestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a condition characterized by impaired glucose tolerance that develops or is identified during pregnancy, without any previous history of the disorder. 1,2It carries short-and long-term implications for both the unborn child and the mother.GDM affects a range of 1-14% of pregnancies. 3GDM occurs due to the inadequate functioning or dysfunction of beta cells. 4It is crucial to perform prompt screening for glucose intolerance in all pregnant women. 5Technological advancements include ultrasound and Doppler imaging for the diagnosis of GDM. [6]7][8] The current study was undertaken to examine the influence of pancreatic size and the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) flow patterns in GDM patients. MaterIals a n d Methods SubjectsThis case-control study was conducted in a tertiary care teaching hospital in the northern sub-Himalayan region of India. The study was conducted for a period of 18 months from August
