EVALUATION OF PUBLIC HEALTH POLICIES: THEORETICAL ANALYSIS AND REVIEW OF EMPIRICAL LITERATURE
Evaluation of public health policies (EPHP) is used to answer whether a public policy launched in the health field has achieved the objectives initially assigned to it. The objective of this work is to describe the theoretical analysis of EPHP, as well as a review of empirical literature. The theoretical and empirical synthesis reveals several methods of EPHP, including random assignment and matching, and demonstrates that interdisciplinary advances enhance the effectiveness of EPH. However, a well-designed EPHP enables the isolation of the specific effect of a health program, allowing for the prioritisation of public health policies to be considered in the future.
