Āryamañjuśrīmūlakalpa: Karmasvakapratyayapaṭalavistara — Established Text and Translation

This record constitutes the citable pre-publication version of the present critical text and translation. Any subsequent revised or formally published version will be linked here. This document presents a critically established text and translation of the Karmasvakapratyayapaṭalavistara (Chapter 17) of the Āryamañjuśrīmūlakalpa, a Mahāyāna Buddhist tantric text containing extensive cosmological and astrological material. The chapter addresses the relationship between karmic doctrine and astral sciences and includes ideas closely related to astrological doctrines found in Varāhamihira’s works. The text and translation derive from the author’s earlier research conducted during the MPhil programme at the University of Oxford and have subsequently been revised for the present study. The present version follows the printed editions of T. Ganapati Shastri (1920) and P. L. Vaidya (1964), with light refinements where necessary. A complete translation and commentary of the cosmological and astrological chapters of the Āryamañjuśrīmūlakalpa, based on additional manuscript evidence, will appear in due course as part of the author’s ongoing research. This document is made available as a citable research output in connection with the accompanying journal article.
