VeriVote: Control-Code Verifiable Paper Voting
This paper introduces VeriVote, a transparent voting system based on the Control-Code Verifiable Paper Voting (CCVPV) model. The system combines traditional paper-based voting with digitally assisted counting and public verifiability. Each ballot is assigned a unique control code, printed both on the ballot and on a detachable receipt retained by the voter. After the counting process, anonymized datasets consisting of pairs of control codes and corresponding votes are published. This enables individual verification by voters as well as independent verification of the election result by third parties. The model is formally defined and analyzed with respect to collision resistance, data integrity, and detection probability of manipulated votes. The analysis shows that large-scale manipulation attempts can be detected with high probability. In contrast to many cryptographic voting systems, VeriVote prioritizes transparency and public verifiability over mathematical complexity, making the system accessible and understandable for a broad audience. The proposed approach combines the robustness of paper ballots with the advantages of digital data processing and open verification, providing a practical framework for transparent and trustworthy elections.
