Endoscopic options and bariatric surgery in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease
Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is strongly linked to obesity and metabolic syndrome.Endoscopic and surgical interventions have shown significant benefits in its management. This paper reviews indications for interventional treatment, emerging endoscopic techniques, bariatric surgery, preoperative evaluation, and postoperative complications.Bariatric surgery remains the most effective treatment; however, endoscopic techniques such as endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty show promising results for patients contraindicated for surgery.Long-term studies are needed to define their role in MASLD management.
