A Novel Control Scheme for Improving Power Quality in Domestic Wind Energy Generators
Abstract - Renewable energy sources, particularly wind energy, are becoming essential for sustainable living. However, small-scale domestic wind turbines often face challenges related to variable wind speeds and poor power quality issues.Traditional AC-to-DC converters used in these systems introduce high harmonic distortion and a low power factor, which reduces the overall efficiency. This study presents the simulation and implementation of a domestic wind power generation system designed to improve power quality.Simulation results obtained using MATLAB R2024b demonstrate that the proposed design maintains voltage stability within permissible limits, reduces Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), ensures that the system maintains a stable output voltage across varying wind speeds, and enhances the output power. This study confirms the feasibility of small-scale wind generation for reliable domestic power supply.
