Utility of polymerase chain reaction and direct fluorescent antibody test for diagnosis of mucocutaneous herpes virus infection
We propose a two-stage diagnostic algorithm: first, fast, inexpensive, and highly specific DFA; followed by sensitive but more expensive PCR in all DFA-negative or invalid cases.
