AI and 3D Imaging in Crime Investigation and Law Enforcement.

Crime scene investigations are critical for dismantling high-risk criminal networks but often suffer from inefficiencies, high costs, and limited precision using traditional methods. This study introduces an AI-aided 3D imaging system to address these challenges by delivering rapid, cost-effective, and high-quality reconstructions of crime scenes. The system leverages affordable camera equipment, AI-driven pose estimation, and advanced 3D reconstruction algorithms to create detailed virtual crime scenes accessible across devices such as laptops, smartphones, and VR headsets.

The methodology involved testing the system in controlled and simulated crime scene environments to evaluate its performance in terms of speed, cost-effectiveness, and reconstruction quality. Results demonstrate that the system can reconstruct a scene within 15 minutes of filming, with complete processing in under an hour. The high-definition 3D models significantly enhance the clarity and usability of crime scene data, providing a comprehensive overview that aids investigative decision-making.

This technology presents transformative potential for law enforcement, particularly in tackling complex criminal networks. Its scalability also makes it a valuable tool for education and digitalization efforts. Future research will focus on real-world deployments and integrating additional investigative capabilities.
