A review of gender lens investing: emerging knowledge

This study explores different dimensions of gender lens investing (GLI). This concept has been underexplored academically, despite demand from society and organizations, as evidenced by the remarkable increase in corporate GLI. The objective of this article is to highlight the value of GLI from an academic perspective. Scientific mapping was employed to analyze the conceptual structure of GLI using academic articles from the Web of Science (WoS) database, along with a literature review of non-academic papers. Through co-word analysis with SciMAT, the main themes, relevance, and keyword trends related to GLI were mapped. The results confirm the need for promoting a GLI theoretical framework and provide evidence of the benefits of applying GLI in private and public companies. Furthermore, the research reveals slow growth in academic engagement with the concept of GLI. The key aspects in the early stages of the GLI discourse are identified, suggesting a focus on regulations. This study is the first bibliometric analysis of GLI-related concepts and illustrates the pivotal role of GLI in helping organizations address emerging gender-related challenges. It provides valuable insights for the formulation of gender policies conducive to positive outcomes.
