Based on a workshop at the Swiss Library Congress 2025, typical management dilemmas, the concept of second-order sovereignty and four key management roles are examined. Practical tools such as mindfulness, journaling, feedback culture and collegial exchange formats illustrate that resilience is less about individual coping and more about a shared culture of a learning organisation.

Abstract

This article shows how library managers can strengthen resilience as a key resource for dealing with complex requirements.
