A stability result for a degenerate/singular beam equation

This paper is concerned with the stability analysis of a degenerate/singular beam equation in divergence form. Letting the spatial variable $ x $ range over the interval $ [0, 1] $, we assume that both the degeneracy and the singularity occur at the same boundary point $ x = 0 $, while dissipative boundary conditions are imposed at the opposite endpoint $ x = 1 $. We first prove the existence of solutions and establish estimates for the energy associated with the system. Finally, under suitable assumptions, we derive a stability result.

Abstract

This paper is concerned with the stability analysis of a degenerate/singular beam equation in divergence form. Letting the spatial variable $ x $ range over the interval $ [0, 1] $, we assume that both the degeneracy and the singularity occur at the same boundary point $ x = 0 $, while dissipative boundary conditions are imposed at the opposite endpoint $ x = 1 $. We first prove the existence of solutions and establish estimates for the energy associated with the system. Finally, under suitable assumptions, we derive a stability result.
