Personalized Medicine: A Comprehensive Guide to Precision Health, Targeted Therapies, and Clinical Advancements Across Diverse Medical Conditions
Introduction: The previous ten years have seen significant advancements in science and technology, raising hopes for the ability to customize medical care and offer individualized treatment. Personalized Medicine (PM) is becoming more prevalent in clinical practice as genes linked to certain diseases are identified and targeted therapies are produced. Methods: Precision medicine will be greatly aided by the development of precision diagnostics, which will be made possible by the application of next-generation nucleic acid sequencing technologies. Results: Personalized Medicine (PM) relies on: 1) Improved clinical and non-clinical tools, such as biomarkers, to accurately diagnose diseases; 2) Tailored therapies, or selecting the most appropriate medication for each patient among those available; 3) Methods for adjusting medication doses to optimize the benefit–risk ratio; 4) Biomarkers of efficacy, toxicity, treatment termination, relapse, and other clinically relevant outcomes. Discussion: PM has advanced alongside numerous technological developments, particularly in the fields of genetics and genomics, which have opened up new treatment options for a variety of illnesses, including cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, coronary artery disease, and severe depression. Conclusion: This review summarizes all aspects of PM in various disorders, including its advantages and limitations, challenges, targeted therapies, and ongoing and completed studies.
