Rapid and multiple idiopathic internal resorption of primary teeth in a child with autism spectrum disorder: A case report
Idiopathic internal resorption of primary teeth is uncommon and may lead to premature exfoliation and occlusal disturbances. Its management is particularly challenging in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A child with ASD presented with rapidly progressive idiopathic internal resorption affecting multiple primary teeth. Early exfoliation necessitated space maintenance; preventive endodontic treatment was performed on at-risk molars, which subsequently exfoliated normally. Behavioral management tailored for ASD-facilitated treatment. This case suggests that when idiopathic internal resorption is identified, the potential for rapid and multiple progressions should be considered. Therefore, regular radiographic follow-ups and preventive treatments are warranted.
