Stochastic Damage Band Model for the Constitutive Relation of Concrete under Quasi-Static Uniaxial Loading

This study proposes a new model for the constitutive relation of concrete under quasi-static uniaxial loading by considering a new concept of stochastic damage band (SDB), which is assumed to have the same size as the localization zone and have stochastic damage evolution inside. The model is able to reproduce the localization feature of concrete naturally and reflect the influence of specimen size or measuring length on the stress–strain curve of concrete under uniaxial compression/tension correctly. The finite element (FE) analysis results obtained using this model are completely independent of the selection of mesh size.

Abstract

This study proposes a new model for the constitutive relation of concrete under quasi-static uniaxial loading by considering a new concept of stochastic damage band (SDB), which is assumed to have the same size as the localization zone and have stochastic damage evolution inside. The model is able to reproduce the localization feature of concrete naturally and reflect the influence of specimen size or measuring length on the stress–strain curve of concrete under uniaxial compression/tension correctly. The finite element (FE) analysis results obtained using this model are completely independent of the selection of mesh size.
