Corrigendum to: Chemical constituents of lawang root oil

The authors of the above-mentioned paper regret to inform readers that a key statement about lawang oil was incorrect. In the second paragraph of the Introduction (p.169) we stated, 'Lawang oil (also called paramao oil and culitlawan oil)' but this is not correct. We have since learnt that lawang oil and paramoa oil are distinct. As we state in the manuscript, lawang oil is traditionally isolated from Cinnamomum culitlawan. However, the commercially available paramao oil contains extracts from C. cultiwan along with extracts from three additional plant species: Jatrophi gossypiifolia, Gaultheria leucocarpa and Pogostemon cablin. It is now clear that the samples analysed were paramao oil and the surprising identification of methyl salicylate ( 7) can be explained by the presence of Gaultheria leucocarpa, a known source of oil of wintergreen (methyl salicylate).Nevertheless, the rigour of our analytical experiments and the results obtained are not in question. As such, the title of the paper should have been 'Chemical constituents of paramao oil'.We apologise for the errors and any confusion this may have caused.
