Storytelling as a pedagogical strategy to foster a love of reading in primary and secondary students: an action research study in Corozal and Colosó, Sucre

This project explores the use of storytelling as a pedagogical strategy to foster a love of reading in second-grade students at the Don Alonso Educational Institution in Corozal and sixth-grade students at the Víctor Zubiría Educational Institution in the municipality of Colosó, Sucre. Through activities involving narrative exercises with creative stories, the project aims to spark interest in reading, strengthen text comprehension, and stimulate children's imagination. The qualitative approach within the framework of action research allowed us to observe significant changes in communication skills, particularly those related to reading. The results demonstrate that storytelling not only improves reading habits and fosters a love of reading but also promotes oral and written expression. It is concluded that this strategy is effective in energizing teaching and learning processes in rural school settings, thus promoting the holistic development of students.
