Impact of Anthropometric Measurements on Athletic Performance in Kho-Kho

Abstract This paper conceptually explores the influence of anthropometric measurements (weight and height) on the athletic performance of Kho Kho players across various physical fitness tests. Utilizing a dataset of Kho Kho athletes' performance scores, descriptive statistics for weight (mean: 34.74 kg, SD: 9.78 kg, range: 0-65 kg) and height (mean: 145.43 cm, SD: 21.56 cm, range: 0-168 cm) were analyzed. The analysis revealed a wide range and slight positive skewness in both anthropometric variables. Conceptually, the paper discusses how weight might impact speed, agility, and power, with optimal weight potentially enhancing power while excessive weight could hinder agility. Similarly, height is considered for its potential advantages in reach and jumping ability. The presence of zero values for minimum weight and height in the dataset is identified as a significant data anomaly requiring attention for future quantitative analyses. The study concludes that while anthropometric measurements likely play a role in Kho Kho performance, a comprehensive correlation analysis, accounting for data anomalies, is essential to establish precise relationships. These findings can inform talent identification, athlete development, and training strategies to optimize performance in Kho Kho.
