Building a Reflexive Laboratory: The P4 Research Architecture

Building a Reflexive Laboratory: The P4 Research Architecture This record publishes the research object associated with the article Building a Reflexive Laboratory: The P4 Research Architecture. The archive documents the empirical construction of a reflexive research workflow in which large language model (LLM) conversations function as differentiated research instruments operating under explicit governance. The core empirical observation of the study is the emergence of a two-thread research architecture: Master Strategy – a thread responsible for directing research objectives and high-level conceptual development. Transcript Governance – a thread responsible for structuring, stabilizing, and documenting the evolving research record. The interaction between these threads produces a reproducible process referred to as P4, a research construction pattern in which conversational transcripts function as design logs that allow the derivation of higher-level research artifacts. The container is organized as a Zenodo research object, separating the narrative manuscript from its analytical components and empirical evidence. The archive includes: the article manuscript (DOCX and PDF) analytical figures describing the P4 architecture source diagram files used to generate figures transcript records documenting the conversational research process metadata files supporting reproducibility and citation The transcripts serve as the empirical design-log record from which the P4 architecture was derived. The figures and manuscript provide the interpretive layer that reconstructs the architecture from this underlying record. This release corresponds to Version DOI: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18968737 The Concept DOI for the evolving research object is: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18902418 Future versions may extend the container with additional transcripts, diagrams, and methodological refinements.

Abstract

Building a Reflexive Laboratory: The P4 Research Architecture This record publishes the research object associated with the article Building a Reflexive Laboratory: The P4 Research Architecture. The archive documents the empirical construction of a reflexive research workflow in which large language model (LLM) conversations function as differentiated research instruments operating under explicit governance.
