METHODOLOGY OF DETERMINING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE SUBURBAN ZONE AS A KEY ELEMENT OF THE WATER-GREEN FRAME OF A GROUP OF PLANNED DEVELOPMENT SYSTEMS

The spatial characteristics of the water and green framework (hereinafter referred to as the WGF) at the level of a group of urban planning systems (hereinafter referred to as the UPS) are determined by the structure and properties of the UPS that make up the WGF. For a comprehensive analysis, it is proposed to systematize the zones and subsystems of the WGF, which includes the suburban and green zones, the subsystems of the greened territories of individual UPS, and the linear objects that ensure their interconnection. The key element of the WGF structure at the level of a group of UPS is the suburban zone, which requires the definition of its boundaries. The article presents an author's methodology for determining the boundaries of a suburban zone based on a comprehensive approach that combines mathematical and urban planning modeling, as well as a step-by-step procedure for collecting and analyzing data. Mathematical modeling involves calculating the overall functional connection between the central city and suburban settlements based on economic, infrastructure, recreational, cultural, labor, and environmental ties. Urban planning modeling involves ranking territories based on their dependence on the central city, determining the functional types of territories, analyzing transportation accessibility, and conducting environmental assessments. The implementation of this methodology allows us to create an algorithm for determining the boundaries of the suburban zone, which includes the collection of relevant data, the determination of weight coefficients for various criteria, the calculation of the general functional connection function, the establishment of a threshold value for this function, and the subsequent mapping of the results. The proposed methodology develops the scientific and design concept of the Greater Volgograd and provides an opportunity for a numerical assessment of the functional connections between the city and its surrounding areas, which is essential for determining the boundaries of the group association of the Greater Volgograd and developing an effective strategy for the spatial development of the agglomeration
