The Exact ErdΕsβKoβRado Theorem for 3-Wise π‘-Intersecting Uniform Families
One of the central problems in extremal set theory is the determination of the maximum size of an π-wise π‘-intersecting π-graph on π vertices. For π = 2 after decades of effort, a complete solution was given by the Complete Intersection Theorem ([2]). However the case π β₯ 3 remains wide open. The π‘-star consisting of all π-sets containing a fixed π‘-set provides a lower bound. For π = 3 and π β₯ π‘ + 2 β₯ 44, we determine the exact threshold for which it is optimal for π > π. The condition is essentially π β₯ βπ‘π. For π β₯ π‘ + 2 β₯ 47 and π β₯ β4π‘+9β1 2 π, we also establish the corresponding HiltonβMilner-type stability result.
