Hydrothermal Synthesis of Z‐Scheme FeWO 4 /BiOBr Nanocomposite for Photocatalytic Degradation of Rhodamine B Dye

ABSTRACT FeWO 4 /BiOBr photocatalyst was prepared by the hydrothermal route of synthesis, and it was characterized by various techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, powder X‐ray diffraction, and UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. Photocatalytic activity was evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) under the irradiation of visible light. The 15 wt.% FeWO 4 /BiOBr photocatalysts degraded 99% (RhB, 10 mg/L), with a degradation rate (0.037 min −1 ), which was 4.83 times and 6.41‐times higher than that of the BiOBr (0.0077 min −1 ) and FeWO 4 (0.0058 min −1 ) photocatalysts, respectively. The strong visible light absorption by 15 wt.% FeWO 4 /BiOBr nanocomposite, band position of FeWO 4 and BiOBr which are like Z‐scheme, proficient inhibition of charge carrier recombination, in situ formation of reactive oxygen species are the main reasons for the better photocatalytic efficiency of FeWO 4 /BiOBr nanocomposite.

Photocatalytic activity was evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB) under the irradiation of visible light.
