Comparative Study of Different Guest Entities Doped E7 Nematic Liquid Crystal for the Optimization of Electro‐Optical Properties

ABSTRACT Field‐induced switching and relaxation dynamics of nanocomposites of the nematic liquid crystal E7, dispersed with multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and the ionic liquid dodecane‐1‐sulfonic acid sodium salt (IL) have been studied and compared in this paper. Morphological analyses, rotational viscosity assessments, and response time evaluations were conducted across varying concentrations of these additives. The alignment properties of both pure and dispersed E7 samples were analyzed across various concentrations using polarizing optical microscopy (POM). The rotational viscosity data for E7 combined with ionic liquids (ILs) align well with the response time curves, demonstrating strong concordance with the experimental findings. Our results reveal a 41% reduction in the rotational viscosity of E7 liquid crystal with the addition of 3.0 wt % of IL relative to the pure liquid crystal. Our study suggests that through strategic selection of guest materials and their doping concentrations, LC properties can be tuned to design faster, more responsive, and more energy‐efficient devices for a variety of advanced technological applications.
