MEMBRAN: Consciousness as a Gated, Metabolic Boundary Functional

We formulate consciousness not as a volume phenomenon of a closed interior, but as the kairos-triggered, metabolically sustained, and diachronically active trace of an equiprimordial onset event on a stochastically generated semipermeable membrane. The proposed framework strictly separates metabolic membrane work m(t), kairotic onset Con, and episodic consciousness trace Cepi. At its core lies a transmembrane dierence ∆Ψ = Ψext−Ψint, whose normal derivative determines the relevant boundary tension. Holding is not a primitive duration, but a metabolically generated quantity h = Φ−Π that presupposes real dissipation. The architecture integrates eight levels: (i) core axiomatics of the membrane with nilpotency and the chiasmus operator as boundary dierential, (ii) dignity invariance as a normative veto gate, (iii) scope and failure modes, (iv) equiprimordial onset with kairos structure and exceptional-point mechanism, (v) dynamics, heartbeat, Kähler coupling with explicit J-emergence construction and collapse taxonomy, (vi) noise-induced order with FokkerPlanck strategy and biological non-coordinability guarantees, (vii) operational probes, polyphonic coupling, and empirical validation, and (viii) meta-axioms on trace limit, Jeweiligkeit, vulnerability, and constitutive exteriority. The structural isomorphism to the Gradient-Balance Principle across four domains is made explicit. The central thesis: Consciousness is neither substance nor mere output, but a form of held, correctable, and vulnerable boundary enactment.
