Synthesis of Cu-Mo-SSZ-13 zeolite and its catalytic application in selective catalytic reduction of NOx with NH3

Promoting the catalytic performance and robustness of Cu-SSZ-13 catalysts presents a great challenge in selective catalytic reduction of NO x with NH 3 (NH 3 -SCR). Here, Cu-Mo-SSZ-13 zeolite was prepared through direct hydrothermal synthesis of Mo-SSZ-13 and the subsequent ion-exchange procedure. The physic-chemical properties of Cu-Mo-SSZ-13 were investigated by various characterization techniques. The results confirmed the CHA topology of Cu-Mo-SSZ-13, and homogeneous dispersion of Mo atoms in zeolite framework. Both catalysts possess similar Si/Al ratio and Cu content. Compared with Cu-SSZ-13, the introduction of Mo source resulted in a smaller and uniform zeolite particle distribution of Cu-Mo-SSZ-13. The Cu-Mo-SSZ-13 catalyst exhibited higher low-temperature activity than Cu-SSZ-13 in NH 3 -SCR of NO x , which should be mainly attributed to the abundant active [Cu(OH)] + -Z sites. Meanwhile, Cu-Mo-SSZ-13 exhibited comparable stability toward high temperature hydrothermal aging, suggesting no detrimental role of Mo atoms on hydrothermal stability. • Mo-SSZ-13 zeolite was directly synthesized by a one-pot hydrothermal method. • Mo atoms are highly dispersed in the framework of Mo-SSZ-13 zeolite. • Cu-Mo-SSZ-13 catalyst contains abundant active [Cu(OH)] + -Z sites. • Cu-Mo-SSZ-13 exhibits enhanced activity for NH 3 -SCR at low reaction temperature and excellent hydrothermal stability.
