The effect of financial agglomeration on regional economic resilience: Based on nighttime light intensity and bank branch density
Using panel data from Chinese cities spanning 2001 to 2023, this study examines the impact of financial agglomeration (FA) on regional economic resilience (ER) from the perspectives of night-time light intensity and bank branch density. The findings indicate: (1) a positive correlation exists between night-time light intensity and ER; (2) capital mobility serves as a mediating factor between night-time light intensity and ER; (3) human capital also mediates the relationship between night-time light intensity and ER; (4) the effect of night-time light intensity on ER varies across cities with different degrees of openness; (5) there is a positive relationship between bank branch density and ER; (6) capital mobility mediates the relationship between bank branch density and ER; (7) human capital also plays a mediating role in this relationship; and (8) the impact of bank branch density on ER exhibits heterogeneity across cities with varying levels of openness.
