Synthesis of Trifluoromethyl-Functionalized Indolines through [4 + 1] Cyclization of Imidoyl Sulfoxonium Ylide with <i>ortho</i> -Chloromethyl Aniline
The [4 + 1] cycloaddition between imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides and <i>ortho</i>-chloromethyl anilines has been established. A series of trifluoromethyl-functionalized indolines were obtained in up to 94% yield under transition metal- and oxidant-free conditions. This transformation exhibits excellent functional group tolerance and a broad substrate scope.
