CARNIVOROUS PLANTS IN EXTREME ENVIRONMENTS: ADAPTATIONS AND EVOLUTIONARY SIGNIFICANCE
Carnivorous plants have evolved specialized adaptations to survive in nutrient-poor environments by capturing and digesting their prey. These adaptations enable them to obtain essential nutrients, allowing them to thrive in extreme habitats, such as acidic wetlands, waterlogged regions, and rocky terrains. This review explores the structural, physiological, and ecological modifications of carnivorous plants and highlights their evolutionary significance, particularly in convergent evolution. Understanding these adaptations provides insights into plant survival mechanisms and evolutionary patterns, thereby contributing to conservation strategies.
