Abstract

In January 2026, the Editors were alerted to concerns about potential issues with Figs.1B, 1C, 6A and 7C as detailed below.r Apparent duplication of the -NF -YB panel in Figures 1B and1C.These concerns have also been raised on PubPeer: https:// pubpeer.com/publications/ 96CA4EC13D6E0EFBD4C81AE095092A#1 .r Apparent duplication of the CCNB1 and BI -1 panels in Figure 7C.r Apparent duplication of the BI -1 panel in Figure 6A and the NF -YB panel in Figure 7C.The Editors subsequently investigated and contacted the corresponding author who explained that the experiments depicted in these figures were conducted 20 years ago and they were unable to retrieve the original raw data. The Editors reached the following conclusions: r Figures 1B and1C: the Editors acknowledge that these panels are highly similar, but the author recovered some contem- poraneous western-blot files which confirm the results shown in these figures. These are included in the Supplementary Information accompanying this Editor's Note.r Figure 7C: there are small differences in the shape and intensity of the bands. No splice line is visible. The Editors believe the figures to be authentic.r Figures 6A and 7C: there are small differences in the shape and intensity of the bands. No splice line is visible.
