A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF THE APPLICATION OF INDUSTRY 4.0 TECHNOLOGIES IN CONSTRUCTION SAFETY MANAGEMENT

The adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies has reshaped traditional approaches to Construction Safety Management (CSM), offering more intelligent, efficient, and integrated solutions. However, while numerous studies explore the practical application of individual technologies, there remains a lack of a comprehensive and up-to-date review that synthesises these developments across the CSM landscape. Existing reviews are often limited by narrow scopes, outdated data, or insufficient thematic depth. This study addresses this gap by presenting a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 148 articles published between 2013 and 2024, using PRISMA guidelines coupled with science mapping analysis. Through bibliometric evaluation and thematic analysis, the review identifies evolving trends, regional and institutional collaborations, research clusters, and gaps. The findings reveal key technologies such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Virtual Reality (VR) as dominant in CSM applications. This study provides a comprehensive conceptual framework, critical insights, and actionable guidance for future research and practice in digitalised safety management.<br/>
