The present study employs a case study approach, utilizing mixed methods data collection in the course of its empirical research. This study defines the concept of sense of place to be able to explain the components that drive the locals’ decision to stay in earthquake-affected region. The results indicate that the community’s continued residence in Bawean is attributable to their strong sense of palace to the locale, which is rooted in the collective social bonds they share.
