Digital workflow and guided cementation with 3D-printed veneers: a case report
To evaluate the effectiveness and precision of a fully digital workflow for anterior esthetic rehabilitation using definitive three-dimensional (3D)-printed veneers and a digitally designed cementation guide for simultaneous placement. A 26-year-old patient underwent a smile design process based on intraoral scans and facial photographs. A diagnostic mock-up was 3D-printed and tested intraorally. Guided tooth preparation was performed using a 3D-printed reduction template derived from the approved wax-up. Definitive veneers were 3D-printed in a high-resolution ceramic reinforced composite. Adhesive cementation was completed using a custom-designed 3D-printed positioning guide that allowed for the simultaneous and accurate placement of all veneers. The digital cementation guide ensured correct vertical and horizontal alignment, proper proximal contacts, and uniform marginal fit. Simultaneous veneer placement reduced clinical time and improved precision. The workflow was completed entirely in-office, and the patient reported high satisfaction with the final esthetic outcome. A digitally guided cementation protocol enhances the efficiency, accuracy, and predictability of multi-unit adhesive veneer restorations. This technique demonstrates how additive manufacturing can support minimally invasive, fully digital prosthetic workflows.
