Left-Wing Antisemitism, Decolonial Discourse, and Media Bias: A Critical Analysis of the Post-October 7 Global Intellectual Climate

This paper critically examines the post–October 7, 2023, resurgence of left-wing antisemitism across Western academic, media, and political institutions, with special attention to Brazil’s diplomatic rupture with Israel under President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Drawing on political theory, contemporary geopolitics, communication studies, and documented empirical incidents, the analysis interrogates how decolonial theoretical frameworks have been selectively applied to delegitimise Israel while disregarding comparable or graver human-rights violations perpetrated by authoritarian actors in the same region. The paper further examines the structural dynamics of academic ideological conformity, the selective silence of feminist organisations regarding Hamas sexual violence, the failure of international bodies such as the United Nations to respond proportionately to crimes against Israeli civilians, and the broader epistemological consequences of interpreting geopolitical violence through a binary oppressor–oppressed paradigm. The argument advanced is that the intellectual and political climate that emerged after October 7 reveals a systemic conflation of legitimate criticism of Israeli policy with anti-Jewish prejudice—one that is philosophically incoherent, empirically inconsistent, and normatively corrosive to the principles of universal human rights and intellectual integrity.
