PHYSICS AS THE FOUNDATION OF TOMORROW: DEVELOPING TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES OF FUTURE ENGINEERS

This article is devoted to the study of technical competencies (TC) among university students and their development through professionally directed training (PDT) in physics. The aim of this research is to offer a theoretical foundation and practical framework for developing the content and methods aimed at enhancing the TC of university students through PDT in physics. We base our work on the fundamental principles of personality and activity theory. The structure, content of TC, as well as its levels, components, criteria, and indicators, are identified. We present a model of a future bachelor's activity, using the specialty «Electric Power Engineering» as an example, to determine the training goals in terms of professional tasks in production. Technology has been developed for effectively fostering the TC of junior students at a technical university based on PDT, aligning all components of training with the competencies necessary for carrying out professional activities. According to pedagogical research, it has been proven that the formation of TC for university students in the context of bachelor's training in «Electrical Power Engineering» can be effectively implemented if the educational process is oriented towards the model of a specialist's activities. Theoretical methods were employed, and numerical calculations along with experimental data were used to compare the study's results.
