Symbolic Mechanics — Volume I: Canonical Engine Kernel, Δ → S → L → R, and the Deterministic Inner-World Loop

Across psychology, cognitive science, and symbolic modelling, inner life is usually described through meanings, traits, narratives, and interpretive categories, but these frameworks rarely specify the irreducible engine that every internal event must pass through. Symbolic Mechanics — Volume I rewrites inner-world processing as a deterministic kernel architecture, establishing a closed mechanical loop in which all subjective events are transformed through the same invariant sequence: Δ → S → L → R → Exit → new Δ. This volume is the canonical engine specification of the Symbolic Mechanics system. It defines the inner world not as a metaphorical landscape, but as a closed computational process governed by fixed mechanical rules. Every readable input enters only as Δ (Perceived Difference). Δ must be contained by S (Symbolic Object). S accumulates unresolved tension as L (Load). When L exceeds the structural capacity of S, rupture occurs at R. Rupture forces Exit, and Exit generates the next Δ, thereby restarting the cycle. Nothing in the system occurs outside this loop. This volume establishes that symbolic processing is neither free-form interpretation nor narrative expression. It is a recursive mechanical engine. Meaning, personality, diagnosis, and behavioural complexity are not primary elements. They are emergent consequences of a smaller invariant substrate composed of a few irreducible units and routing rules. Core contributions include: • formal definition of the invariant engine sequence: Δ → S → L → R → Exit → new Δ, as the only lawful pathway of inner symbolic processing • specification of Δ as the exclusive input format of the system: no internal event enters except as a readable difference, mismatch, interruption, or discontinuity • formal definition of S as the automatically generated symbolic container required to hold unresolved Δ, and as both temporary solution and future failure point • formalization of the Four Seats as deterministic contexts for symbolic processing, each with its own load-accumulation rule and rupture tendency • specification of L as the monotonic unresolved energetic cost of containment, which cannot decrease without rupture and accumulates according to seat-specific functions • definition of R as the sole rupture threshold and the only trigger for Exit, establishing structural failure as a value-neutral threshold event rather than an emotional event • formalization of three deterministic Exit pathways: Violent Discharge, Delayed Discharge, and Mourning / Absorptive Discharge • formal definition of the dual processing architecture: SCd (Seat-Child) and SCr (Self-Core) as mutually exclusive competing modules governing seat assignment, processing speed, and load curvature • specification of processor sensitivity coefficient κ as the determinant of activation threshold, processing dominance, and route-bias across cycles • formalization of tension as a mechanical gradient rather than emotion, including both rate-based and threshold-relative expressions • establishment of the perpetual engine proof: perception forces encoding, encoding forces containment, containment forces load, and load forces rupture / exit, making the loop inescapable once the system operates • formalization of three recurrent human configurations as attractor outcomes of stable parameter differences in κ, seat bias, load curvature, and exit probabilities, rather than traits or diagnoses • definition of expansion pathways toward relational symbolic mechanics, family dynamics, and multi-system recursion as lawful extensions of the same kernel architecture Volume I reframes inner life as a computationally relevant modelling problem for cognition, symbolic AI, recursive state architecture, and internal process theory. It provides a deterministic substrate beneath interpretation, personality, attachment, defence, and psychopathology by showing that all complexity can be generated from a small set of invariant symbolic operations. Abstract
