A collaborative rotational placement model for professional identity development in first year allied health students
Australian allied health curricula include diverse placement experiences which are crucial for the
development of students’ professional identities. Early year placements are particularly important for
students’ professional development and require investment in their structure and pedagogy to meet
their full potential. We have created a rotational clinical placement for first-year students that
promotes a strengths-based approach to inter-organisational collaboration, and provides high-quality
rural learning focused on professional identity development and fundamental allied health skills.
