Determination of total phenolic content and antiradical activity in vitro of greater celandine (Chelidonium majus L.) herb samples collected in different districts of Lithuania
Introduction. Greater celandine (Chelidonium majus L.) is widespread in Asia, Europe and the Americas. The phenolic compounds (flavonoids and phenolic acids) contained in the C. majus herb are responsible for various biological activities [1]. Methods. Greater celandine herb samples were collected in the summer of 2023 from 6 different locations in Lithuania: Zarasai, Skuodas, Telšiai, Lazdijai, Valkininkai, Jurbarkas. 0.25 g of ground C. majus herb was placed in dark glass bottles and extracted 20 min with 10 mL 38% (v/v) ethanol using ultrasonic bath .The total phenolic content (TPC) was determined by Folin-Ciocâlteu assay [2]. The antiradical activity in vitro was determined by ABTS assay [2]. The antiradical activity in vitro of tested extracts was expressed as μmol Trolox equivalent (TE) per gram. All results were recalculated for dry weight. [...].
