Investigation of Earthquake Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Frame System with Hollow Block Slab System in Frequency Domain

In order to reduce or completely eliminate the damages and collapses that building systems may encounter in an earthquake; it is necessary to determine whether they are earthquake resistant. It is an important issue that people are safer with fast damage diagnostics before and after earthquakes. In this study, it is aimed to validate the analysis in frequency domain for the rapid diagnosis of the damage level of the structures. In the recent earthquakes, it is known that reinforced concrete frames with hollow slabs and flat beams were severely damaged. In this context, a number of structural analyses have been applied by taking into account the structural systems with hollow slabs where damage levels are thought to be high. In the study, reinforced concrete frame model with hollow slab and flat beams (RC1), reinforced concrete frame model with hollow slab and normal beams (RC2), reinforced concrete frame model with plate slab and flat beams (RC3) and reinforced concrete frame model with plate slab and normal beams (RC4) were designed. Static pushover analysis was applied to the reinforced concrete frame models and damage levels were determined. Then, the damage levels were verified by applying frequency domain analysis. At the end of the study, it was determined that frequency domain analysis can be applied for rapid damage detection. It was also concluded that the hollow slab should be designed without reinforced concrete walls but with normal beams.
