A role of dihalides in solvation dynamics of nascent halides
X-Ray absorption and X-Ray scattering at XFELs deliver new observables for the field of solvation dynamics → sharpen the x-ray tool box for guest-host interactions. Observed the nascent Iodine and Bromide atoms via 2s→5p and 1s→4p transitions. 3D Diffusion nicely describes the recombination rate of iodine radicals. No indication of the (I:e) contact pair in. Different halides show different behavior when observing the solvated electron. Contribution from Di-Halides is significant. Outlook: Delayed cage response? CTTS lifetime from Edge and Absorption shifts? Hope for Chloride from simulations and TAS (slower early dynamics) p shell valent electron? Randomization time? Estimate <10fs
