Solution-processed ▫$Ti_3C_2T_x$▫ MXene thin-films
Progress in the field of MXenes relies on a thorough understanding of how synthesis processes impact their performance and the ability to achieve consistent reproducibility of results. This review provides an overview of titanium carbide Ti3C2Tx MXene, focusing on its electrical conductivity when utilized in the fabrication of thin films from solution. We discuss the relationship between conductivity and film thickness, as well as the underlying charge transport mechanisms, highlighting its dual nature characterized by band-like conduction within individual flakes and thermally activated hopping between flakes. Additionally, the evolution of electrical conductivity, spanning from 102 to 104 S/cm, is discussed in relation to synthesis techniques, flake quality, and surface terminations. The findings underscore the significance of structural and morphological optimization in achieving high-performance MXene films.
