Çölyak Hastalarında Mandibular Yapıların Fraktal Analizi: Yapısal Karmaşıklığın Keşfi

Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the radiomorphometric parameters of the trabecular and cortical bone of the mandible in celiac patients. Methods: A total of 41 celiac disease patients (32 females and 9 males) and 41 age- and gender-matched healthy individuals (control group) were included. The analyzed parameters were fractal dimension (FD), mandibular cortical width (MCW), and mandibular cortical index (MCI). Results: Significant differences in the mean FD of selected regions were found between the two groups (p < 0.05). However, no significant differences were observed in MCW between the two groups (p > 0.05). The mean MCW was 3.9 mm in celiac patients and 4.4 mm in the control group. Coclusion: The MCI C3 category, representing the most porous state of the mandibular cortex, was more frequent in celiac patients. Among the radiomorphometric parameters, FD was significantly lower in celiac patients, while MCW and MCI parameters were also lower and more prone to porosity in celiac patients, though this predisposition was not statistically significant.
