Data-Rich Monitoring and Optimization of a Complex Biocatalytic Oxidative Desymmetrization via Integrated Flow-NMR and PAT
Biocatalytic reactions have emerged as crucial tools in the synthesis of pharmaceutically relevant compounds. To ensure efficiency, safety, high yield, and robustness of these processes, it is essential to study their underlying reaction kinetics and mechanisms. In this study, we combine flow-NMR with a range of process analytical technology (PAT) tools to enable both online and inline monitoring of a complex biocatalytic reaction. Through data-rich measurements and analysis of critical data, we gained valuable insights into the reaction, which facilitated efficient process development and optimization. This approach not only deepens process understanding and enables reaction optimization but also has the potential to advance biocatalytic processes in pharmaceutical synthesis.
