Microcoating is a further improvement in the aesthetics of monolithic restorations (literature review)
Due to the high demand for zirconia dentures, a unique method has been developed to improve the appearance of zirconia orthopedic structures, named micro layering. This method is applicable both in the frontal area and in the posterior sections of the patient's dentition, and is a technique for applying a very thin layer of material over full-contour restorations. Ceramic micro layering systems provide a fast, effective and aesthetically predictable result for monolithic structures, made of both lithium disilicate and zirconium dioxide, including multilayer zirconia. Micro layering offers the effect of depth, emphasizes the surface texture, and allowing the orthopedic structure to be integrated into the patient's dentition without using of time-consuming and labor-intensive procedures of veneering and step-by-step firing of complex veneered structures. Micro layering is aimed at detailing and working out certain surfaces or surface areas of dentures, for example, detailing fissures in the area of the occlusional contacts of posterior teeth.
