Bi-transition metal ions (Zn Ni) co-doping on the structural, optical, photodegradation using methylene blue dye, and antibacterial activity of FeMnO3 nanostructures
Various concentrations of Zn Ni as mixed dopants (0.01, 0.03, and 0.05 mol) in FeMnO 3, along with undoped FeMnO 3 were successfully created using the combustion synthesis route. When Zn Ni as mixed dopants were introduced in FeMnO 3 , XRD peaks were significantly varied, as well as the distortion of the original cubic crystal structure of undoped FeMnO 3 . The molecular interaction bonds of Fe O, Mn O, Zn O, and Ni O, as well as chemical composition, binding energy, and their chemical oxidation states, were found in the co-doped FeMnO 3, validated through FT-IR, Raman, EDX, and XPS. The intermixing of co-dopant in FeMnO 3 , optical band gap values were tuned under the influence of Zn/Ni co-dopant concentration level. The distributions of undoped and co-doped FeMnO 3 particle states were tested via SEM photographs. The agglomerated spherical particles, as well as poly-crystalline behavior, were noticed in the HR-TEM analysis of 0.01 mol Zn Ni doped-FeMnO 3 . A photocatalytic experiment was conducted for the synthesized samples using methylene blue dye under visible light via a photoreactor, 0.01 mol Zn Ni doped FeMnO 3 material achieved a maximum decolorization performance of 81.8%. The higher zone of inhibition values of Zn Ni doped FeMnO 3 compared to undoped FeMnO 3 against S.aureus and E. coli confirmed via antibacterial activity. • Undoped FeMnO 3 1%, 3%, and 5 wt% Zn-Ni-doped FeMnO 3 were successfully created by combustion synthesis route. • Structural, optical band gap, photodegradation and antibacterial performance of undoped and Zn Zn-Ni-co-doped FeMnO 3 were comparatively studied. • The synthesized compounds and its morphologies were confirmed with the XRD, FT-IR, Raman, XPS, EDX and SEM studies. • 1wt.%Zn-Ni-doped FeMnO 3 material achieved a photodegradation effciency of 81.8% than undoped and other co-doped samples. • The zone of inhibition of Zn Ni undoped and Zn-Ni-doped FeMnO 3 cagainst S. aureus and E. coli were tested via antibacterial activity.
