The Role of AI on Idea Generation
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in innovation workshops to
enhance creativity is controversially discussed in the literature. The perspectives
range from AI having a supportive effect on creativity to one that hinders or
restricts it. This research-in-progress paper presents a research design that
investigates the role of AI from the perspective of participants in innovation
workshops. To capture the dynamics of the workshop as comprehensively as
possible, field notes were taken by an observer, audio recordings were made, and
semi-structured interviews were conducted with a narrative introductory
question. The aim was to gain a deeper understanding of how participants
experience the integration of AI into creative processes and what impact this had
on the generation of ideas.
