Characteristics and Outcomes of Posttransplant Infections in the First Year After Receiving a Liver Transplant
Abstract Despite the use of antimicrobial prophylaxis in liver transplant recipients, infection remains the most likely cause of death posttransplant, accounting for 18.94% of deaths in the first year. There are limited data describing liver transplant recipients characteristics, types of infections, and potential risk factors for infection in the first year after transplantation. We reviewed the incidence and outcomes of infections in our liver transplant recipients during the first-year posttransplant during index hospitalization or rehospitalization.
