The Structural Evolution Dimension: Why Time Doesn't Exist
This paper demonstrates that time is not a physical dimension but a descriptive overlay applied to structural behavior. Through a complete audit of temporal categories, including ordering, duration, change, causality, entropy, clocks, geometry, and dynamics, the analysis shows that each category reduces to structural primitives such as inference, rhythm, evolution rules, dependency, asymmetry, propagation, and information access. The result is a systematic demotion of time from dimensional status to interpretive construct. The paper then identifies the structural primitives revealed by the audit and formalizes their roles in physical theory. These primitives provide the foundation for constructing a structural evolution dimension that replaces temporal ontology. The dimensional requirements are defined explicitly, including structural ordering, continuity or discreteness, parameterization, generative compatibility, observer invariance, comparability, mathematical integrability, and non‑dependence on temporal assumptions. This work completes the reclassification of temporal categories and establishes the conceptual and structural basis for a genuine evolution dimension grounded in structural progression rather than time.
